Frequently Asked Questions

  • How have I to use the media labels?
The main goal of the labels is to find your movies easily. To do that the movies are ordered by the labels instead of the titles.
The advantage of this system is that you don´t have to reorder your movies when you add a newly purchased movie.

Below you can find some approaches how you can use the labels:

    • Number media of the same type uniquely
If you have grouped your movies by media type, which means all DVD are placed in one shelf while all BluRays are placed in another shelf, then number all DVDs uniquely and and independent of the DVDs number the BluRays uniquely.
      Example: DVD 1, DVD 2, BluRay 1, Bluray 2, BluRay3.
While numbering the media enter only a number in the MovieArchive´s label because the media type is shown anyway in the movie list.

This approach can be activated in the MovieArchive´s setup in the section "Media Details" as follows:
      • activate "Use labels"
      • select "Unique labels per media type"
With this settings the MovieArchive prevents you from using the same label on multiple media the same media type.

    • Number all media uniquely independent of their media type
If your movies are placed in the same shelf independent of their media type, which means a DVD, a BluRay, another BluRay and then a DVD again, then number all media uniquely:
      Example: DVD 1, BluRay 2, BluRay 3, DVD 4, BluRay 5.
While numbering the media enter also only a number in the MovieArchive´s label.

This approach can be activated in the MovieArchive´s setup in the section "Media Details" as follows:
      • activate "Use labels"
      • select "Unique labels over all media"
With this settings the MovieArchive prevents you from using the same label on multiple media.

    • Choose your own approach for labeling your media
The MovieArchive allows to enter any text for labels. Therefore feel free to order your movies by your own system.

    • Don´t use any labels
If you can find your movies easily without any labels you can switch off the usage of labels in the MovieArchive´s settings.
The MovieArchive´s movie list will still help you to overview your movies.
