We became members of the Vacation Villages Vacation Club in *********, *******, in July 2020.We have a long history with Vacation Villages, and it is with a heavy heart that we seek to address our timeshare membership. When we initially decided to invest in the timeshare, it was primarily due to our appreciation for the convenient locations of the resorts that Vacation Villages offered. The flexibility to enjoy vacations on short notice was particularly appealing, making it a compelling proposition for us. In 2020, the sales associate assured us that accessing our desired vacation destinations would be effortless. The process was presented as simple - a mere phone call to the reservations number, and we could secure reservations with ease. However, the reality did not align with the promises we were given. Booking our preferred holiday destinations during peak periods, such as holidays and spring break, proved challenging. The beach resorts we cherished were consistently unavailable, leading us to repeatedly settle for Orlando, *******. This limitation was also noticeable during the summer, when our schedules allowed for more flexibility.Our recent discovery has shed light on the reason behind these limitations. It appears that our access to the available inventory was significantly restricted due to our lower-tier status. We only had access to less than 47% of the available units, and this became the root of our ongoing struggle to secure bookings for our desired locations. In contrast, elite owners enjoyed a staggering 97% availability of inventory by being willing to pay a premium. This disparity was never explained to us during the sales process. Each time we expressed concerns over affordability or scheduling conflicts, the sales representatives employed persuasive tactics to encourage us to purchase more points.
