32 year old American rap superstar, Nicki Minaj has finally spoken openly for the first time about having an abortion during her teenage years. Nicki whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj spoke exclusively in an interview with Rolling Stones magazine about her decision to terminate a pregnancy she had for a certain Aaron person. Nicki said: ‘I thought I was going to die. I was a teenager. It was the hardest thing I’d ever gone through. It’s haunted me all my life. It’d be contradictory if I said I wasn’t pro-choice. I wasn’t ready. I didn’t have anything to offer a child.’

The star first broached the subject in her 2008 track Autobiography, in which she referred to herself as ‘mommy’. The issue reared its ugly head again earlier this month when she delved into her private life in new track All Things Go. Referring to a child who would have been 16, the same age as her beloved younger brother Micaiah, she went on to say: ‘My child with Aaron would have been 16, any minute/ So in some ways I feel like Caiah is the both of them/ It’s like he’s Caiah’s little angel, looking over him.’

Not much is known about the ‘Aaron’ person but it is believed that he must have been someone she fell pregnant with, most likely an older man from Queens, New York who she came in contact with while studying at the revered LaGuardia performing arts school.

Nicki Minaj is known to keep her private life private and this comes as a shock to many people.
However, the rap diva insists that she wants her fans to be aware of her past life through the material on her recently-released third record, The Pinkprint. In her interview with Rolling Stone, she adds:

‘One of my goals was to give people a glimpse into my personal life, because it’s something I’ve kept very private.’
