FTP is an acronym for File Transfer Protocol.
As the name suggests, FTP is normally used to transfer files between computers on a network.
CloudFTP™ enables files to be transferred to Storage Clouds even when they do not natively support FTP.
As the Nasuni Access Anywhere Server provides an FTP / TPS protocol adaptor it is able to support the FTP / FTPS protocol for any public or private cloud storage irrespective of whether such clouds support FTP.
What if the cloud storage does not support FTP?
It does not matter, the Nasuni Access Anywhere Server FTP protocol adaptor enables any cloud to be accessed from standard FTP clients even if the connected cloud does not support FTP.
Why is this useful?
Many companies require FTP/FTPS support but still want to use services such as Amazon S3, or Azure for better scalability and reduced cost.
The Nasuni Access Anywhere Server enables companies to use such services and still provide FTP support.
For example Google Drive, Amazon S3, SharePoint, OneDrive, Office365 etc don't natively support FTP, but using CloudFTP companies can expose access to data from any standard FTP client.
How do you obtain CloudFTP™?
CloudFTP™ is a feature of the Nasuni Access Anywhere Server and works with available on the hosted SaaS version or the enterprise on-premises version
What does it work with?
It works where FTP works, so users can use any standard FTP client.
Authentication can also be configured to use the Nasuni Access Anywhere Server's federated single-sign-on which delegates authentication to corporate identity management solutions such as LDAP, Active Directory, or SAML.
What FTP clients has it been tested with?
It has been tested with Cyberduck, Transmit, CODA, Krusader, Filezylla, Default ubuntu ftp client, Total Commander, Windows default FTP client, Captain FTP and others.
It should work with any FTP client but if you have a problem
