Mr. Borders was born on April 10, 1935 in Rockmart, son of the late Ed Borders and the late Lora Horsley Borders.He was a graduate of the Rockmart High School Class of 1953.He was a member of the Cedartown Church of God and served as a church clerk for 25 years. Mr. Borders retired from the Lockheed-Martin Corporation with 37 years of service.He was an avid gardener and loved spending time with his family.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Horace Borders.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Smith Borders of Rockmart; daughter, Dondra Hansen Whigham and her husband Tim of Dallas; son, Michael Edward Borders and his wife Mary of Kennesaw; six grandchildren, Ashley Preyer, Ryan Borders, Mallory Hansen, Sarah Hansen, John Whigham and T C Whigham; and six great-grandchildren, Matthew Preyer, Joshua Preyer, Clancy Preyer, Veronica Whigham, Ciara Whigham and Alivia Whigham also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Borders will be held on Monday, March 23rd at 1:00 p.m. in the Cedartown Church of God with Rev. John Moates, Rev. Delton Harne and Rev. Wesley Forrister officiating.Eulogies will be given by the grandchildren, Ashley Preyer, Ryan Borders, Mallory Hansen, Sarah Hansen, John Whigham and T C Whigham.Interment services will follow in the family lot of Rockmart Memorial Gardens.
The following grandchildren will serve as pallbearers:Ryan Borders, John Whigham, Ashley Preyer, Mallory Hansen, Sarah Hansen, Jim Preyer and Matthew Preyer.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Rockmart High School Class of 1953.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening, March 22nd between the hours of 5:30 and 8:00 p.m.
