Summary

Please Note: In addition to the wage rate shown above, a contribution of $0.50 cents for every eligible hour as defined in the collective bargaining agreement will be deducted from the hourly rate and paid into the Teamster Pension Trust Fund on behalf of the employee.
Join Our King County Elections Team!  King County Elections (KCE) manages voter registration and elections for nearly 1.2 million voters in King County, the largest vote-by-mail county in the United States.
We are currently recruiting to create a roster of skilled temporary employees who will work in the Short Term Temp Ballot Van Worker position.  King County Elections operates fourteen ballot drop-off vans to provide voters the opportunity to return their mail ballots without the cost of postage.  These vans are parked at predetermined public locations and collect ballots on specific dates and times only.  Training is provided to perform assigned work.

Work Schedule: This position is non-exempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is eligible for overtime pay.
Friday, April 24, 2015 -Training will be 1/2 day 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
Saturday, April 25th, 2015 - 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
Monday, April 27th, 2015 - 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
Tuesday, April 28th, 2015 (Election Day) - 9:00 am to 9:00 pm

Job Duties

 

Working as part of a three-person team, this position will drive a cargo van to an assigned location and collect ballots from voters following standard department procedures and election law.

Answer basic voter questions.

Securely transport ballots back to the King County Elections Building in Renton.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. 

Experience working in a busy environment while maintaining safety standards at all times.
Ability to stand for long periods of time in inclement weather conditions.
Ability to work with and provide exceptional customer service to the public.
Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to positively interact with a variety of people in a diverse work environment.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to bend, kneel, stand, reach, climb, stoop, squat.
Demonstrated ability to maintain punctual, reliable and regular attendance.
Ability to lift 25 pounds.

Supplemental Information

A valid Washington State Driver's License is required to operate King County vehicles; must be 21 years old.
A final offer of temporary employment will be contingent upon the submission of an official Washington State Driving Abstract demonstrating a good driving record and reference check.
