Mr. Neville Carl “Gus” Williams, 74, of Martin, died Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born June 13, 1940, in Rabun County, he was the son of the late Carl Williams and Pricilla (McDowell) Henry. He was a veteran of the US Army. He retired from the Georgia State Patrol as Chief of Communications. Mr. Williams was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Carol (Cobb) Williams; daughter and son-in-law: Missy and Todd Collins; son and daughter-in-law: Brad and Jamie Williams; stepchildren and spouses: Keith and Jennifer King and Ramsey and Karen Walker; grandchildren: Addy Collins, Mackenzie Collins, Katie Haun, Jacob Hyden, Bradyn Williams, Josiah King, Judah King, John Mark King, and Katherine King; and brother: Brevelle Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Sharon Elaine (Turpin) Williams.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2015 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Harvill and Rev. Bill Stacey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Edward Whitworth officiating and with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 1333 Pleasant Hill Road, Martin, GA 30557.
