Timothy Wayne Word

February 5, 1985 — July 31, 2014

Timothy Wayne Word, 29, of Farmville, VA, formerly of Beckley, WV, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, July 31, 2014, from an apparent heart attack.
He was born February 5, 1985 in Beckley, WV.

Timothy was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Bluefield State College, and was pursuing his master’s degree at American Public University. He was employed by Horizon Behavioral Health in Lynchburg, VA as an Instructor Counselor. Timothy was a member of the Parish of St. Francis de Sales, and his love for God was matched only by his love for cheese, especially Baby Swiss, and the New England Patriots football team, as well as his love and compassion for his fellow man, among whom he seemingly never met a stranger.

Timothy is survived by his father, William "Bill" Word and his wife, Lori McNair Word of Pineville, his mother, Patricia Baldwin Word, of Oak Hill, and her fiancé Carl Jones; brother, Jonathan Word of Beckley; grandparents Emmitt and Barbara Barry Word of Beckley and Judy McNair of Pineville; an uncle Steven McNair of Pineville; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Additionally, Timothy will be remembered by his closest friends Katie Gunnoe Christian, Joseph Chambers, Anne-Marie Johnson, Tyler Reeves, Diana Booth, and Tonya Greene, as well as the countless people whose lives he touched everyday.

Visitation will be at Tyree Funeral Home in Mt. Hope  on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a funeral liturgy held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Beckley, on Wednesday August 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Father Perry Malacaman as celebrant. Rite of committal will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery in Beckley.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions to charities be made in Timothy's memory.
