you do not know what it is, but it’s there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad, it is this feeling that brought you to me

I borrowed the foregoing scene from the Matrix to make a point. Like Neo, I knew something was seriously wrong with the world way before the movie came out.

In fact! When a saw the scene in question, I thought the author of the script was speaking directly to me. It was an out of the ordinary experience. I am convinced many of us felt the same way.

I do not know if other Christians feel the same way I do, but studying accounts about World War 1, World War 2, Korea, Vietnam and so on, just feels as if I am being stabbed over and over again. Or, in other words, to witness such suffering rips me complety apart. Like Neo, all of us who are normal should be silently thinking

‘that there something wrong with the world’

We should be reflecting and sighing on expressions like:

What in the heck could have plunged the earth into such madness?

I guess for some of us, the pain is simply too intense and so we drop our study of history in order to drown ourselves in entertainment. However! Is that really a wise choice? The internet is packed with axiom like:

I do believe that nothing is more important than history. Simultaneously, I do understand the pain tied to it. But pain is not always negative. Like Bruce, we should focus on:

So let us pray to God for the strength to continue our study of history. By doing so, we might prevent the total destruction of the earth. As for me, I made the same choice NEO did, I took the Red Pill and pursued my investigation to find out what could steer humans into such sinking insanity as the dark past courageously reveals.
