Rays’ manager Kevin Cash told reporters on Wednesday that Pete Fairbanks will make another minor league rehab appearance at Triple-A Durham on Thursday.

The 30-year-old right-hander allowed two hits and struck out a batter over a scoreless inning of work in his first appearance. It’s possible, if all goes well on Thursday, that he could be cleared to return to the Rays’ bullpen for their weekend series against the Yankees.

OAK Starting Pitcher #45

Osvaldo Bido was removed from Wednesday’s start against the Rangers in the third inning due to a blister issue on his pitching hand.

The right-hander had allowed one run on three hits and a pair of walks over his 2 2/3 innings of work — but also left the bases loaded and will be responsible if those runners score as well. It’s likely that he would be heading back to Triple-A Las Vegas after Wednesday’s start anyways, but what remains unclear is whether or not he’ll require a trip to the injured list.

SF Starting Pitcher #7

Blake Snell (adductor) is scheduled to make a minor league rehab start at Single-A San Jose on Sunday.

The 31-year-old southpaw will first throw a bullpen session on Thursday, then if all goes well he’ll be cleared to take the mound in that rehab start. Snell has been shelved since April 24 due to a left adductor strain. It remains to be seen if he’ll require any additional rehab starts after Sunday’s tune-up, or if he’ll be ready to return to the Giants’ rotation if things go well there.

TEX Shortstop #5

Corey Seager is not in the Rangers’ starting lineup for the nightcap of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Athletics.

The 30-year-old superstar shortstop went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout during the first game and is slashing an underwhelming .230/.303/.309 with three homers and 13 RBI on the season. Josh Smith will start in his place at shortstop and bat fifth for the Rangers on Wednesday evening against Osvaldo Bido and the A’s.

HOU Starting Pitcher #65

José Urquidy (forearm) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Sugar Land over the weekend.

Urquidy has been shelved since spring training due to inflammation in his forearm, so he’s going to need at least a couple of rehab starts before he’s an option to join the Astros’ rotation. If he’s able to avoid any setbacks though, a return before the end of May could be realistic.

HOU Left Fielder #20

Chas McCormick (hamstring) is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment over the weekend.

McCormick, 29, has been sidelined since April 28 due to a right hamstring strain. He has been running and hitting without any issue though and should only need a couple of games there before he’s ready to return to the Astros’ lineup. Expect him back at the start of next week if everything goes according to plan.

BOS Second Baseman #23

Red Sox activated INF/OF Romy Gonzalez from the 10-day injured list.

The versatile 27-year-old has been shelved since April 11 due to a left wrist sprain. Before he was sidelined, Gonzalez had been just 1-for-4 (.250) with a walk and a strikeout in two games played with the Red Sox. He’ll add depth and versatility to the team’s bench and can safely be ignored for fantasy purposes.
Shea Langeliers

OAK Catcher #23

Shea Langeliers went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and five RBI, powering the Athletics to a 9-4 win over the Rangers in the opening contest of Wednesday’s doubleheader.

Langeliers blasted a go-ahead two-run shot off Rangers starter Michael Lorenzen in the second inning before adding a two-run double in the fourth inning and an RBI triple a couple frames later to cap off a stellar five-RBI performance. He’ll presumably be back at designated hitter for the nightcap of Wednesday’s twin bill after catching the front-end of the doubleheader.

Marcus Semien went 3-for-5 with a solo homer in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Athletics.

Semien went deep for the second consecutive contest against his former team, pulverizing a 412-foot solo shot off Athletics starter JP Sears in the third inning as part of a three-hit performance.

Brent Rooker went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Rangers.

Rooker finished off a three-hit effort with a towering 427-foot blast -- his ninth round-tripper of the season -- to straightaway center field in the seventh inning to cap off Oakland’s nine-run offensive explosion in the front-end of Wednesday’s twin bill.
