    : Messiaen: St. François d’Assise

    The life of St Francis of Assisi, magnificently set to music by Olivier Messiaen: this opera closes the Musikfest with a spectacular production featuring the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra, Kent Nagano and Anna Prohaska as the Angel.

    : Schumann: Das Paradies und die Peri

    The »Michel« is not only Hamburg’s landmark, but also has a lot to offer musically. The St Michael’s Choir is a guest at the Elbphilharmonie and presents a fairytale oratorio by Schumann, which he himself called his »best work«.

    : »The Mad Lover«

    Two shooting stars on baroque violin and lute do the honours with highly virtuoso and sensitive English baroque music. The starting point was the music to a comedy from Shakespeare’s time – and the rest of the programme is also extremely theatrical!

    : Martha Argerich Festival

    To mark the end of the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra’s season, star pianist Martha Argerich is inviting as artist-in-residencenumerous musical friends to take part in her festival throughout the city. Three concerts take place in the Elbphilharmonie.

    : Elbphilharmonie Summer

    Summer, sun, beaches ... and the Elbphilharmonie! Whether symphony orchestra, jazz, pop or world music: at the end of August, the summer festival invites you to a colourful mix of concerts in the Grand Hall. A short trip that is always well worth it!

    : Buganda Music Ensemble

    The complex drum rhythms inspired composers such as John Cage and create fascinating sonic illusions: The courtly music from Buganda, today’s Uganda, is something very special and can only rarely be experienced in concert here!

    : Ensemble Resonanz / Ilya Gringolts

    The Hamburg Ensemble Resonanz presents baroque at its finest for its season finale with exceptional violinist Ilya Gringolts. Corelli's music translates the period's lust for ornamentation and splendour into music. Orchestral pieces meet solo violin.

    : Sir András Schiff & Friends

    Making music with friends is the best thing! Pianist Sir András Schiff knows that, too and he has invited tenor Julian Prégardien, cellist Julia Hagen and many others to round off his residency. A chamber music festival with Schubert, Schumann and Brahms!

    : Amaryllis Quartett

    One of Mozart’s string quartets dedicated to Haydn meets French Impressionism by Albert Roussel. The renowned Amaryllis Quartet will be joined by Henrik Wiese, solo flautist at Bayerischer Rundfunk.

    : Carmina Burana

    Carl Orff's »Carmina Burana«, with its expressive melodies set to medieval texts, is one of the most popular works of classical music. The CPE Bach Choir and the Symphoniker Hamburg combine them with Schumann's spring-like Symphony No. 1

    : Harvestehuder Sinfonieorchester

    The orchestra is one of Hamburg’s most traditional amateur orchestras and stands for a remarkable level of musicianship. Under the direction of the young conductor Philip Hildebrand, they present Mussorgsky’s colourful »Pictures at an Exhibition«.

    Concert or radio show? The Orchester im Treppenhaus presents hits from baroque to tiktok with moderation including interviews, surveys and quizzes. What makes it special: Created by young people! After all, they know what »the youth of today« like.
