Philharmonia Voices is a versatile professional chorus that collaborates with the Philharmonia Orchestra on some of its most ambitious choral-orchestral projects.

The choir was founded in 2004 by Aidan Oliver at the invitation of the Philharmonia.Since then the chorus has worked regularly with the Orchestra in a huge range of repertoire, enjoying a particularly close relationship over the years with the Philharmonia’s former Principal Conductor (now Conductor Laureate), Esa-Pekka Salonen.

Other conductors with whom the choir has developed strong relationships have included Vladimir Ashkenazy, Jakub Hrůša, John Wilson, Christoph von Dohnányi, and in earlier years, Lorin Maazel and Richard Hickox. The size and make-up of the choir is tailored to the varying demands of each collaboration by Aidan Oliver, providing the Philharmonia Orchestra with a professional choral partnership of unique flexibility.

The choir’s members are drawn from outstanding singers mainly either in the early part of their professional careers or completing their conservatoire studies. Aidan Oliver is also the Chorus Director for Glyndebourne Opera.
