Heinz Nigg

Since the early 80s Heinz Nigg has been active as a visual anthropologist and community artist. His fields of interest are social movements, participation in urban development, and the documentation of migration and mobility. In 2017 he curated Rebel Video for the Swiss National Museum, an exhibition about the alternative video movements of the 1970s and 1980s in Switzerland and the UK. He mostly works with portraits, based on the methods of Oral History, and he also maintains his involvement in art and photography projects. Heinz Nigg lives in Zurich, Switzerland.

Seit den frühen 1980er Jahren ist Heinz Nigg freiberuflich als Ethnologe und Kulturschaffender tätig. Seine Schwerpunkte sind soziale Bewegungen, Videoarbeit mit Gruppen, Partizipation in der Stadtentwicklung und die Darstellung von Migrations- und Mobilitätserfahrungen durch Selbstzeugnisse. Heinz Nigg arbeitet vor allem mit Porträts, basierend auf der Methode der Oral History. 2017 kuratierte Nigg für das Schweizerische Nationalmuseum die Ausstellung Rebel Video über die alternative Videobewegung der 1970er- und 1980er-Jahre in der Schweiz und Grossbritannien. Er beschäftigt sich auch immer wieder mit Medienkunst und Fotografie. Heinz Nigg lebt in Zürich.
