La Thuile

A popular choice with UK skiers, La Thuile offers both a quaint village and a modern complex accessing fabulous quiet slopes.

Friendly and affordable La Thuile is a popular choice with UK skiers. Originally a mining town, it’s now a purpose-built ski resort with a modern lift-base complex, as well as the old village across the river. With extensive easy slopes, and free childcare on offer, La Thuile is particularly good for families. But with ski links to La Rosière too, its appeal to skiers who want to venture a little further afield is still significant. Between the two resorts, there’s 150km of slopes on offer, served by 39 lifts.

More about La Thuile

ABOUT THE RESORT

Relatively quiet and family-friendly, La Thuile is comprised of two distinct parts: a purpose-built lift base with quick access to the slopes, and an older village steeped in history dating back as far as the 12th century. Linked by a free service, there are various accommodation options in both parts, as well as bars, restaurants and other amenities.

ON THE MOUNTAIN

La Thuile is a great of mix of magnificent intermediate terrain, great reds and ferocious blacks through the trees, and easy blues and good nursery slopes for beginners. Links to La Rosière create even more diversity for all skier levels – and the uncrowded nature of La Thuile’s ski area makes it a hugely appealing choice for all too, especially families, and advanced skiers looking to ski fresh tracks.

OFF THE MOUNTAIN

While other resorts have more on offer once the slopes have closed, La Thuile still has a few shops to browse as well as a swimming pool and plenty of restaurants and bars to sample. Non skiers will like the marked walks on offer, and the chance to take the gondola up the mountain for lunch with a view.
