When Max Allegri switched from a 3-5-2 formation to a 4-3-1-2 formation, it made a lot of sense both in terms of the players available to Juventus' new manager and the jumpstart it could provide a team that desperately needed one. But for all the good that the new formation provided Allegri and his team in a post-Genoa loss time of need, it was missing one glaring thing as they moved forward.
Juventus has lacked — and still does — a proper trequartista in the starting lineup week in and week out.
Could there be a positive trequartista-related kind of development as we get closer and closer to the January transfer window? In an interview in Saturday's edition of the Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus director general Beppe Marotta points toward the club looking to bring in somebody to play in behind Carlos Tévez and the rest of the Old Lady's strikeforce.

This quote comes off the back of a Gianluca Di Marzio report right before Christmas night came to an end that said Juventus might venture into the market for a trequartista market during the upcoming transfer market. So essentially we now have confirmation of what Mr. Transfer Oracle Di Marzio threw out there a couple of days ago.
Now, I am sure some people will get a little frazzled about Marotta saying "the right opportunity" in the quote above. But this is Marotta, which we have come to know has a lot of "right opportunities" on the transfer market. Would bringing in the much-talked about Xherdan Shaqiri, who is cup-tied with Bayern Munich? I don't know if they feel like they want to bring somebody in because they have their eyes on a run in the Champions League.
But as Arturo Vidal and Roberto Pereyra give relatively inconsistent performances as trequartisti over the last month, the need for a proper attacking center midfielder is more obvious as January approaches. Now it's just about finding that right opportunity. Who's in the mood for a loan with an option to buy?!
I'll wait for answers on that.
