GIRLS' RIGHT TO EDUCATION

Girls are often taken out of school to help with family responsibilities such as caring for younger siblings, fetching water or cooking at the time of harvest. ACTION AGAINST CHILD LABOUR

Along with our partner project, the Society for Rural Health and Development (SRHD) we aim to break the cycle of forcing children from the 'Dalit' and other communities in India into child labour. Forced to work with their parents, these children have been denied the opportunity to develop in mainstream education and promote and protect their own rights. JUGNU PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAMME

The Jugnu Pre-School and Nutrition Programme is an educational project for disadvantaged slum children living 'below the poverty line'. Through this programme children are given a ‘head start’ in their education by being exposed to a range of preschool activities which help develop their cognitive, social and language skills.

EARLY INTERVENTION CLINIC

The Early Intervention Clinic is a service that provides early screening and intervention to infants (age 0-3 years) who are at a high risk of Cerebral Palsy or a neuro-motor difficulty. The service includes medical assistance, physical and occupational therapy and assistive technology devices.

CORNERSTONE CHILDREN'S HOME

Cornerstone Children's Home is an orphanage in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu and home to 30 children. Cornerstone is Big Hug's first project and has been supported since 2011. Big Hug funds the rent of the home and the children's school fees.
