Juan Gonzalez
Juan Gonzalez was born on February 27, 1946 in Valencia, (Spain).
Already at the age of ten, he began studying classical piano. He won the first prize at the Music Academy of Valencia and later went on to study at the Paris Conservatory of Music.
His fascination for jazz music began with fifteen years of age. In 1968 he became a professional jazz pianist and began performing with well known musicians such as Lou Blackburn, Bobby Dorham, Johnny Griffin, Guy Laffitte, Alvin Queen, Buddy Tate, Clark Terry, Kay Winding, Jimmy Woode, Sandy Patton and Reggie Johnson. He also accompanied well known singers such as Sandy Patton, Jan Harrington and Bernita Bush.
He has toured in several countries, e.g. Germany, France, Netherlands, Austria, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and South America. He also appeared in a number of International Jazz Festivals in den Haag (Nether–lands), San Sebastian, Barcelona and Benidorm (Spain), Lucern and Biel/ Bienne (Switzerland).
In the mid-seventies Juan Gonzalez took permanent resi–dency in Switzerland. Today, he performs regularly with top named musicians on stages throughout Europe as solo piano or in Big Band formation.

Juan Gonzalez wurde am 27. Februar 1946 in Valencia (Spanien) geboren.
Seit seinem fünfzehnten Altersjahr beschäftigte er sich eingehend mit Jazz und wurde 1968, nach seiner klassischen Ausbildung zum Berufspianisten in Valencia und Paris, profes–sionneller Jazzmusiker. Konzert–erfahrung konnte er u.a. mit bekannten Jazz-Grössen wie Lou Blackburn, Reggie Johnson, Bobby Dorham, Joan Faulkner, Johnny Griffin, Guy Laffitte, Alvin Queen, Clark Terry, Kay Winding oder etwa Jimmy Woode sammeln. Er begleitete auch berühmte Sängerinnen wie Sandy Patton, Jan Harrington und Bernita Bush.
So trat er nebst in verschiedenen europäischen Jazz-Clubs auch an den internationalen Jazz-Festivals von Barcelona, Den Haag, St. Sebastian, Benidorm oder Luzern zum Teil in eigenen Formationen auf.
Seit 1970 est er in Biel (Schweiz) wohnhaft, wo er auch Klavier–unterricht erteilt.

Il a quinze ans lorsqu’il se laisse emporter par le jazz; c’est au terme d’une formation classique qu’il devient pianiste profes–sionnel et exerce son métier de «jazzman» tant à Valencia qu’à Paris en 1968. Moult expériences et bien des concerts plus tard, Juan Gonzalez peut se targuer d’avoir joué avec les plus grands musiciens de jazz tels que Lou Blackburn, Reggie Johnson, Bobby Dorham, Joan Faulkner, Johnny Griffin, Guy Laffitte, Alvin Queen, Clark Terry, Kay Winding, Jimmy Woode. Il a accompagné également des chanteuses renommées comme Sandy Patton, Jan Harrington et Bernita Bush.
Au fil de ses pérégrinations, en dehors des divers jazzclubs européens, il participe également au sein de diverses formations aux Festivals internationaux tels que Barcelone, La Haye, St. Sebastian, Benidorm ou encore Lucerne.
C’est en 1970 qu’il posera ses par–titions à Bienne; depuis lors il se produit toujours un peu partout en Suisse et, parallèlement, il a fondé une école de piano où il professe avec succès.
