  • LAD Left Fielder #37
He also singled. It’s the ninth homer of the season for Hernández, and one of four the Dodgers hit off Marlins starter Roddery Muñoz in Monday’s victory. The outfielder has also driven in 26 runs over 37 games with a decent — if unspectacular — slash of .259/.325/.490. So far, so good in Hernández’s first season as a member of the Dodgers.
  • LAD First Baseman #5
Freeman went back-to-back with Shohei Ohtani, and his solo blast gave the Dodgers a 3-2 lead. The 34-year-old hasn’t shown a ton of pop in the early portion of the year, as it’s just the third homer for the veteran first baseman in 2024. He’s hitting .292 with a .407 on-base percentage, however, and all of those numbers are sure to climb as we get deeper into the year.
  • LAD Designated Hitter #17
What is there to say? Ohtani became the first designated hitter for the Dodgers to homer and steal two bases since Eric Young did it back in 1998. End of similarities between Ohtani and Young. The two-way star absolutely blistered a two-run homer in the first for his 11th roundtripper of the year, and he’s already driven in 27 runs. There are not enough superlatives to describe how good of a baseball player Shohei Ohtani is.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #51
Vesia came in to protect a three-run lead and the southpaw was up to the challenge. That’s the first save of the season for the 28-year-old — and just the fourth of his career — and he lowered his ERA to 1.65 with the scoreless frame. He could see more save chances with Evan Phillips out with his hamstring injury, but nothing is for sure in this situation.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #71
Muñoz issues three walks and struck out five. He was staked a 2-0 lead in the first, but it evaporated quickly after he allowed a two-run homer to Shohei Ohtani and a solo blast to Freddie Freeman a batter later. He also gave up homers to Teoscar Hernandez and James Outman in a start that showed his ability to miss bats, but also his inconsistent command of that arsenal. Muñoz will be back on the bump with another tough match-up against the Phillies on Sunday.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #21
He allowed six hits with no walks, and he struck out four. Buehler didn’t get deep enough to qualify for the win, as he threw 77 pitches in his first start since June of 2022. The right-hander gave up a pair of run-scoring singles in the first and a homer to Nick Gordon in the second, but Buehler settled down nicely over the final two innings, and showed flashes of the ace hurler he was prior to Tommy John surgery. Buehler will try and work deeper in his next start, scheduled for Sunday against the Padres.
  • NYM Left Fielder #9
Nimmo’s tie-breaking seventh-inning shot off veteran reliever Andrew Kittredge wound up being the difference in a low-scoring series-opening showdown at Busch Stadium. It was his fourth round-tripper of the season and second time he’s gone deep in his last eight contests since April 29. The 31-year-old leadoff specialist is batting .228/.376/.394 with 19 runs scored, four homers, 22 RBI and two steals across 157 plate appearances so far.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #39
Díaz got the call to protect a narrow one-run margin in the final frame during Monday’s series opener at Busch Stadium and needed just 11 pitches (seven strikes) to slam the door. He struck out Alec Burleson before coaxing ground outs from Brendan Donovan and Masyn Winn to end the contest. He’s converted five of his six save chances this season to go along with a 2.45 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and sparkling 22/4 K/BB ratio across 14 2/3 innings (14 appearances) this season.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #59
Manaea was cruising along in this one until his final frame when the Cardinals struck for three runs on a trio of hits and a walk. It was backstops Willson Contreras and Iván Herrera that delivered run-scoring hits in the frame and wound up forcing the veteran lefty to settle for a no-decision. He finished with just one strikeout and only handed out one free pass. He’ll bring a respectable 3.31 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 31/19 K/BB ratio across 36 1/3 innings (seven starts) into a tough matchup on Sunday against the division-rival Braves.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #44
Gibson took the ball for Monday’s series opener against the Mets and pitched reasonably well, allowing two earned runs or fewer for the fourth consecutive outing since April 19. He notched four strikeouts and only handed out a pair of free passes in this one. He’ll carry a serviceable 3.68 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 33/16 K/BB ratio across 44 innings (seven starts) into a road tilt on Saturday against the Brewers.
