Great Marsh Songs

Commissioned by the Manship Artists Residency and Artists for the Great Marsh, this five-movement work for student singers at Rockport Middle & High School, of Rockport, MA, and Endicott College, with text by Gloucester poet and activist Caroline Harvey, celebrates the human and natural history of the Great Marsh, located on the coast of northern Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and its importance, while advocating for action to combat climate change.

Premiered on March 7, 2023 at the Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport, MA. To watch the concert and a video about the project, go here and click on “The Great Marsh Concert.”

Additional performances of the fourth movement, Patricia’s Meditation, were given by the Cape Ann Arts Alive Singers on Aug. 25, 2023, and will be given by the Massachusetts Music Educators Association All-State Treble Chorus on March 23, 2024.
