Eva Dene Maggard

Eva Dene Caldwell Maggard, age 76 of Maggard Lane, Hyden, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky. Eva Dene was born December 01, 1938 in Beverly, Kentucky to the union of the late Sam and Betty Saylor Caldwell. She was a life long resident of Leslie County. She was united in marriage to her loving and devoted husband, Jack S. Maggard on December 24, 1959 in Jonesville, Virginia, whom preceded her in death on November 05, 2014. By occupation, Eva was a book keeper, being employed by the Leslie County Board of Education, and for the family's many companies over the years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, music, canning, cooking and most importantly, spending time with her family and friends. She was a UK basketball and football fan. For many years, Eva Dene served as an Election officer and shared her husband's love and involvement in politics.

Other than her parents, Eva Dene is preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Jack Samuel Maggard; sibling: Mary Jane Caldwell (Chester), Ida Caldwell (Edward), Richard Ray Caldwell, Robert Ray Caldwell, and Zack Caldwell (Jessie); six brothers-in-law: Charlie Short, Rufus Short, JB Caldwell, Bige Lewis Maggard, Charlie Maggard (Jean), and James W. Caldwell; daughter-in-law: Tabitha Madden Maggard; granddaughter-in-law: Tiffany Maggard.

Survivors include, six sons: Roderick Claude Maggard (April) of Hyden, KY, Bige Colin Maggard of Hyden, KY, Jack Samuel Maggard II (Marsha) of London, KY, Kevin Scott Maggard of Hyden, KY, Kendall Dain Maggard of Hyden, KY, and Patrick Dean Maggard (Sabrina) of London, KY; one daughter, Michelle Maggard Cronin (Christopher) of Tampa, FL; three brothers: David Caldwell (Doris) of London, KY, John D. Caldwell (Mary) of Stoney Fork, KY, Gareth Ray Caldwell (Chaney) of Burksville, KY; four sisters: Cordelia Caldwell Short of Stoney Fork, KY, Lena Mae Caldwell Short of Helton, KY, Bernice Caldwell of Stinnett, KY, and Betty Jean Caldwell Maggard Masters (Clayton) of East Bernstadt, KY; twenty-four beloved grandchildren: Blaine, Seth, Brad, Chad, Casey, Jesalyn, Chelsey, Justin, Jack Samuel III, Maya, Eva, Austin, Kaylee, Brady, Karlee, Joseph, Landen, Chloe, Austin, Andrew, Shayleigh, Dalton, Hunner, and Kutter; one great-grandchild: Sophie; Daughters-in-law: Rhonda Collett Morgan and Marlene Couch Bailey; two sisters-in-law: Ruth Howard Caldwell and Odie Woods Maggard; A host of other cherished family and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Middle Fork United Methodist with Rev. Reed Brock and Rev. Roger Wolfe officiating. A graveside service will then take place at the Honey Branch Cemetery. Burial will then follow at the Maggard Family Cemetery at Hyden, KY. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M., Thursday evening at the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home, and after 5:00 P.M. on Friday evening at the Middle Fork United Methodist Church with additional services at 7:00 P.M. with Jack S. Short and Ted Brock officiating.
