The 24-year-old has made nine appearances at the Triple-A level where he’s collected three saves and hasn’t allowed a run in his 11 innings pitched. He’s shown major improvement compared to last season when he posted a 5.66 ERA, 1.86 WHIP across 35 innings with Omaha.

Corey Seager (shin) is in the Rangers’ starting lineup as a designated hitter against the Mariners on Thursday.

Good news. Seager was hit in the shin by a pitch on Wednesday and was diagnosed with a contusion, but it appears that won’t stop the 29-year-old from getting back on the diamond. The team is taking somewhat of a precaution by placing him as a designated hitter, but for fantasy purposes, managers can breathe easy for the time being.

TEX Relief Pitcher #65

Rangers optioned RHP Grant Anderson to Triple-A Round Rock.

With Josh Sborz back with the Rangers, the team will send down Anderson who didn’t put have his best stuff when his number was called while with the Rangers. The 26-year-old finished with a 12.00 ERA in his three innings of work with Texas. He’ll continue to develop at the Triple-A level and could get called up again if there’s a need of a fresh arm in the bullpen.

Rangers activated RHP Josh Sborz (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list.

Sborz will join the Rangers’ active roster after spending a little over two weeks on the injured list. The 30-year-old should come back and be plugged in as a set up reliever and has done well early on this season with zero earned runs allowed across 2 2/3 innings.

MIN Starting Pitcher #78

Twins recalled RHP Simeon Woods-Richardson from Triple-A St. Paul.

Woods-Richardson will get the start on Thursday. He’s getting the call up to replace Louie Varland, who was optioned to Triple-A following a brutal start to the season. The 23-year-old righty has made three starts at Triple-A where he’s posted a 6.08 ERA, 1.58 WHIP with a 12/5 K/BB ratio across 13 1/3 innings. Fantasy managers should wait and see how he performs on Thursday, but his lone start with the Twins this season was promising when he allowed just one earned run across six innings of work.

PHI Second Baseman #2

Phillies optioned INF Kody Clemens to Triple-A Lehigh.

Clemens came up to the active roster while Bryce Harper was away on paternity leave. The 27-year-old made the most of his time up when he hit a three-run home run on Monday, but wasn’t in the lineup for Philly’s last two games. He’ll head down to the minors where he is slashing .270/.333/.508 with three homers and 11 RBI in 16 games this season.

Phillies activated Bryce Harper from the paternity list.

After a few days off to celebrate the birth of a child, Harper joins the Phillies in their series finale against the Reds. He’ll look to extend his hitting streak to seven games and get the Phillies back on track after consecutive losses to Cincinnati.

CIN Second Baseman #6

Jonathan India (illness) is in the Reds’ starting lineup and batting sixth against the Phillies on Thursday.

India was sidelined for the the past three games with an illness, but the 27-year-old is back in the up as a designated hitter. India has slashed .251/.349/.410 with four RBI in his 86 plate appearances this season.

PIT Starting Pitcher #30

Pirates RHP prospect Paul Skenes struck out seven and was charged with two runs (one earned) over 4 1/3 innings on Wednesday for Triple-A Indianapolis.

Skenes finally gave up an earned run, which sent his ERA soaring to an astronomical 0.53 in the process. The 21-year-old top pitching prospect built up his workload to 71 pitches (50 strikes) and continues to flash triple-digit velocity with ease. It’s difficult to understand Pittsburgh’s rationale at this juncture behind having him continue building volume in the minor leagues instead of contributing in the major leagues. Regardless of when the Pirates finally decide to call him up, Skenes appears poised to make a significant impact for fantasy managers and should be rostered in all formats.
Elly De La Cruz

CIN Shortstop #44

Elly De La Cruz went 3-for-5 with a double and three steals as the Reds topped the Phillies 7-4 on Wednesday.

De La Cruz has finally gotten to ascend to the second spot in the lineup that he was expected to fill during spring training. It’s early, but he’s finally blossoming into the five-category superstar that optimistic fantasy managers willing to overlook his contact issues were envisioning, batting .313/.412/.820 in 97 plate appearances. He’s stolen 15 bases in 18 attempts, and he seems like the best bet of anyone to lead the majors in that category this season.
